Everything is going GREAT!! The transplant was a success. Better than anyone, includingthe surgeons could ask for. As of last night, Koby was asking to play with his trucks and watch his Dora videos. He has been throwing smootchies since
yesterday afternoon. Melanie, our Angel kidney donor, is doing great also. She still feels really puffy from all the air they had to put into her
abdomen, but besides that, she was released from the hospital on Saturday
evening. The transplant was on Friday, so I guess you can say she has a
real good recovery time.Thank you all for everything you have done for us. It makes
things a little easier when things go right for a change.
The last three
and a half years almost felt like we were on a constant downward path, with
hardly any braking in between. But, the last 2 months have been going up
hill rather than down hill!!
So, now, Koby is urinating like crazy. He is putting out more
urine than an average adult would normaly. Now, it is just a matter of
getting all of his medications and immunosuppressants at the right doses
before we are able to leave the hospital. We will probably be here for a
few more weeks. And just to let let you know how well Koby is doing, while
I am writing this letter, I just a call letting me know he may be going to a
regular room tomorrow. We were told that we would have to be in Intinsive
care for 2 weeks. This is some great news.Sorry the report was so long, but, it is all good news.
Got
to go for now. Again, Thank You All for everything. God bless you, for he
has Blessed Us!!!
With a lot of our love,
Sayana, Troy and Koby Kiffe |

Everyone is doing great! Melanie, Koby's kidney donor, is recovering very well. She is almost able to do everything she was doing before. Still a little achy, but doing fine. As for as Koby, he is doing amazingly well. We were out of the hospital in less than two weeks, making all the doctors look at him in amazement. They were all shocked that he was up and around that soon after transplant. The only problem we are having right now is his behind is still new and it is not taking very well to all the new medicines and formula he is on.
The medicines are all very strong and seem to be eating away at some of his behind. It looks like it may be getting better. Only time will tell. But, besides that, he his doing great. Full of energy, laughter, smiles and a never ending flow of kisses. Again, thank you for all you have done.
God bless you all, and Happy Holidays. We know we are going to start 2007 with our very own Baby New Year!!!! |

Just wanted to let everyone know that Koby is doing awesome! In these pictures, he is EATING sweet potatoes. Just the fact that he is eating could be enough, but, he is now walking, talking, laughing a whole lot more, and just doing better than we ever thought. We could never say how much we appreciate what has been given to us by you. It gave us time to not worry about anything else except Koby.
We still have alot more to go. He still has to have a couple of more surgeries, alot of therapy, and he had to have another colostomy placed due to unforseen complications with his rectum. Besides that, he is the happy child we have been waiting to have since he was born. Now that his total on surgeries has reached 30, I think he finally may have a chance at being as close to normal as possible. Again, Thank You All! |
