After the Marines, Jerry Kelley worked as a helicopter mechanic for 6 years for the Department of the Navy. He then went on to work as National Gas Compressor Mechanic in Venice Louisiana so that he could be closer to his family and to where he grew up. Madelyn Maria Rodriguez will be two years old on October 13th. She is a spunky little girl who loves to color, play with her dolls, sing, and dance. Madelyn is not a normal toddler though; she was born with micropthalmia in her left eye and malformations of the retina, iris, and optic nerve in her right eye. On February 25th, 2009 Sandra Boudreaux's life as she knew it changed forever! While visiting a local shopping center in her community, Sandra fell as she was stepping from the parking lot onto the sidewalk in the front of the store and fell into a metal clothes rack, striking the front of her head. . Paula Canik has been employed at ConocoPhillips for 21 years. She has worked in the Upstream division for 13 and in Downstream (presently) for the passed 8 years. She has battled cancer for the last ten years. In 2000, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and endured radiation, and a lumpectomy but by 2003 the cancer had metastasized to her liver. Matthew Sherertz, had a motorcycle accident in June 1992, one week after his seventeenth birthday, that forever changed his life. He was lifeflighted to Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center with multiple life-threatening injuries to his abdomen and additional injuries to his face, upper jaw, arm, and leg. Patty Dupre Breaux was born August 30, 1960. Patty has been married to Michael J. Breaux for 32 years and resides in Houma, La. Patty worked 21 years for Chabert Medical Center, nine years short of retirement with the state due to medical problems. Mike worked for Halliburton Energy Services for 34 years 7 months and 2 days. Barbara Navarre has been a diabetic since 1989 – on an insulin pump for most of this time. When she started having trouble with her hands and feet in Sept. 2009, it was diagnosed as side effects to diabetes. When pain and stiffness traveled to her hips and knees, a rheumatologist diagnosed her with arthritis – treated with numerous medications and injections. Curtis Stewart was born in 1946 in Plaquemine, La. He married Beverly Guidry in 2003 and reside in Broussard, La. with five children – Corey Stewart, Kimalee Guidry, Curtis J. Stewart, Twana Jones and Tamara Reado. In May 2008, Curtis’s wife noticed his left calf was larger than the right. For the last 14 years, David Nall has worked at a refinery as a petroleum inspector. In August 2009, David started feeling very tired and his back started hurting. In late September, his back was hurting so bad that he could not finish the job he was working. After visiting the doctor again, he was told he either had leukemia or liver cancer. He was wrong. Kim Abraham Kim was born in Amarillo on 1984. Just two weeks before her first birthday, she was hospitalized for bacterial meningitis. Doctors informed us that this kind of bacterial meningitis was fatal if not detected early, and that it could lead to permanent damage, including deafness, blindness and/or mental deterioration. In 2008, Nolta Dantin had a CAT scan on the left side of his neck that revealed spots on his lungs. In October 2009, a biopsy on his lungs showed that hehad Stage 4 cancer. In November Nolta started chemotherapy that he will continue until Nov. 2010. Nolta's doctor said there was nothing else he could do.. Read his story...
